Summer Time Cold Blahs

I haven't had a cold in almost 2 years, but this weekend that record was broken. I am suffering from a nasty one. I can't breathe, I can't stop sneezing, I have no energy and every muscle in my body aches. I'm trying hard to keep my mind off it by keeping myself active by doing a bit of sewing or reading, but by the time I finish an activity I am a victim and just want to collapse.

So tonight I have the house to myself. Trevor is working overnight shifts this weekend. I decided to camp out on the couch for a few hours this evening with Alexi napping at my feet and a nice big quilt to wrap up into. We are also going to watch a few movies to pass the time. I do know that if I feel anything like this tomorrow I am calling into work sick and hibernating in bed all day. I'll prop myself up on pillows and watch movies in bed and read and sleep. I am avoiding people and keeping my germs to myself!

So as I mentioned above, I have been trying to keep myself active and my mind off my cold. I believe I told you a few posts back that I am in the process of designing and sewing a sampler quilt to teach this Fall season. I managed to get another two blocks made up last night. I had a couple hours where I had a little bit of energy so I put them to good use.

Here are two of the 15 blocks I will be teaching.

Shirley, in response to your message to me about classes, yes I too had hoped to be going to the Mundy Pond or the Mews Centre facilities too, but seems I got bumped. I'm not amused, but what can I do!!! I am teaching in Shea Heights this Fall season and won't be there during the winter seasons as that hill is just too steep to deal with for myself and my students when the weather gets nasty! I don't want to put anyone through that. I will keep you posted when I will be setting up private classes from home. Please send me a private email to let me know what ideas you had in mind with respect to the fabric you picked up in Florida. I hope to know a little more come the Fall season what classes I'll be teaching privately.

I also finished the head piece I made for my friend's wedding. She is getting married this week coming. I'm really happy she loved it! It's been a long time since I made a wedding head piece but I really enjoyed making it.

All the beads came from her mother's wedding head piece.

When I lived in Nova Scotia many years ago I had a small home based business making prom dresses, wedding gowns and bridesmaid gowns. I also made many veils and head pieces. That was almost 10 years ago. I really enjoyed making Kelly's head piece and it was fun to work with small little beads again. Thank you so much Kelly for the honour of making your head piece!!!!!!! You are a very dear friend and we (your Thursday night sewing/quilting group) are going to miss you now that you are leaving the province to pursue your masters! There will always be a sewing table for you when you come back next year!!!

Next week Trevor and I are heading on a little vacay getaway and driving across the province to do some camping and hiking. It's been 2 years since we were in Gros Morne National Park on the west coast of the island and we are looking forward to getting back there again. I just hope this cold of mine is long gone by then.

We did do some camping last weekend in La Manche Provincial Park along the Southern Shore. We went with another couple and we had a ball! We did a little hiking and lots of relaxing by the campfire. Not to mention I think I OD'ed on Smores!!!!!!! I don't think I ever had one before that weekend!!! Lisa's boyfriend Justin is the KING of smore making!!!! I would post photos but I just realized the memory card for that camera is in the other room and I just don't have the energy to get up off this couch right now...

ACcchhoooo!!! oops sorry Alexi I didn't mean to scare you from your puppy nap there... Uggg I need another tissue... I feel I have been hit by a truck!!! And I know exactely how that feels as I was t-boned by a dump truck on the highway three years ago this August 10th. Let me tell you, it is not a good feeling!

So on that note, I think I'm going to end my post here and burrow down under the quilt and watch a movie. Me thinks I will put on Bridget Jones Diary. A good chick flick would be a good dose of medicine for me right now.

Quiltingly Yours
Andrea
